You do not have to exercise vigorously to reap the health benefits. You can stay healthy if you do moderate-intensity physical activity (see examples below) at least 30 minutes a day, 5 days a week. The 30 minutes may be broken down into 10-minute segments throughout the day.

Routine activities
- taking the stairs instead of the elevator
- getting off the bus one stop earlier and walking the remaining distance
- parking the car further away from the intended destination and walking the remaining distance
- doing household chores.
