EMS has been used on stroke patient, however the use of EMS has to be stopped so the muscle works by itself and not get dependent on stimulation from outside, that is why it was not introduced to mass market before.

EMS portable devices are available in the market, and FDA is regulating these devices, they are small and can be used anywhere, the price of these devices depends on the number of pads.

The effective of EMS on muscle is not immediate, you need 4-6 weeks to see change in your muscle, EMS is also good for minor joint and muscle pain relief.

Since EMS has been used for muscle rehabilitation and conditioning and tits has worked well with proven results many people think it will work too on healthy people however there is no study to prove that, and since there is demand for products that will work on muscle tuning and boosting EMS has been brought to the mass market.

Another reason helping EMS to be popular is that there is no side effect from using it and it has not been reported in the media. However skin burn if possible if you are not careful.

Pregnant women and people carrying pacemakers should not use EMS.

Electrical Muscle Stimulation devices available for sale on the internet for personal use at home, you need to educate yourself about how to use EMS devices and not just depend on product manual, what device manufacturer say may not be totally true.

There is no side effect for using EMS devices, but this does not mean you can ignore manufacturer warnings or use EMS more than two times per week.

When buying EMS machine you must make sure its not a TENS machine, EMS is for muscle stimulation and usually treats up to 4 areas of the body while TENS is for pain relieve and treats up to 2 areas of the body and TENS machines are cheaper than EMS.
