Men will not look attractive for being slim, they need some protruding muscles which will shape their body and makes it sexy. Protein shakes help achieve that.

Bodybuilder started taking protein shakes for endurance, muscle building and repair, protein shakes is something all men are taking today specially by fitness fanatics.

Protein shakes available in powder and can be mixed will low fat milk or water and you can add some fruits to it for taste enhancement. It is easy to prepare and available in my flavors to suit our different taste. It is a quick solution to boost your energy, carbohydrates and protein when your everyday food is not balanced.

For those who are concerned about their protein intakes, protein shakes is a fast and easy solution and this is part of its appeal.
Most common protein shakes available is known as Whey protein it is dairy based and derived from milk after becoming cheese. Another source for protein is egg and soy.

Nutritionist believes the quality of whey protein is better and it is easily digested by our body, the disadvantage of whey protein is that it is not suitable for those who are lactose intolerant. If you can’t consume milk you should avoid whey protein and go for soy based protein shake and recent studies has shown that overall result you get from whey and soy protein is comparable.
Protein is important for our health; it is needed to create amino acids for muscle building. In addition protein may play a role as antioxidant and improve our immune system.

Study published in International Dairy Journal suggests that whey protein may help in reducing blood pressure. Researchers from the University of Connecticut believe whey protein is good for our heart and can reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease.

Soy protein also helps in lowering blood pressure; new study published in the Journal of Clinical Lipidology has found that soy protein lowers total cholesterol significantly in patient with high cholesterol. Another study in Journal of Nutrition suggest that soy protein may reduce the risk of diabetes in overweight women, overweight women who took 118 grams of soy protein every day reduced their risk of getting type 2 diabetes by 40-50 percent compared to those who consumed less than 43 grams of soy protein.

You are convinced now that protein is important for our general health, and protein shake is the quick and easy solution to provide our body with protein and the question is how much protein our body needs and is over consuming of protein shake is better?

General rule is consuming health supplements in moderation is the way to go, as for protein we need 2 grams per kilogram of our body weight daily, more than that may force our body to oxidize excess protein and store it as fat. In long run too much of protein shake will make your blood acidic and this will affect your joints and bone, because our body needs calcium to neutralize acidic blood.
Those with kidney problem should avoid protein shakes, protein digestion will over load your kidney with more works that is why it is not advised for people with weak kidney.
